Marea Goodman, Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife
Marea Goodman (they/their) is a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife based in Santa Cruz, California. Since they got licensed in 2015, Marea has provided midwifery care to people birthing at home as well as in birth centers in the US and abroad. In 2016 they founded their own home-birth practice, Restore Midwifery, where they focuses on providing queer- and trans-competent prenatal and birth care as well as fertility and IUI services.
Marea holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish/Portuguese from UC Berkeley and a midwifery license from the National Midwifery Institute. They teach midwifery and insemination skills to student midwives around the country. A parent of three children (one of whom they birthed themselves), Marea is also a writer whose work has been published in online publications such as Everyday Feminism,Ms. magazine,Mother.ly, and the Huffington Post. In 2014 they cowrote a cookbook, Straight From the Earth: Irresistible Vegan Recipes for Everyone, in an effort to make plant-based eating more accessible and less scary to other omnivores like themselves and in 2023 they co-wrote Baby Making for Everybody: Family Building and Fertility for LGBTQ+ and Solo Parents.
