Our Twin Pregnancy Journey with Mosie Baby

When my wife and I decided we were going to try for a baby, we knew that we were already faced with adversity and difficulty due to being two women. We knew the basics- since I already had a child 14years ago I would carry again, our donor was picked and on board, I had to lose 100lbs to safely start the journey, medical intervention might be necessary and that it was going to take some time.

Knowing who our donor was, really helped with the process and we knew that starting with Mosie was the best option! I lost the weight I needed to, and worked closely with my fertility doctor to help manage my PCOS, get necessary testing done to make sure we wouldn’t need medical intervention and to get on the right combination of medication(non fertility) to help us conceive as naturally as possible.

Our first round with Mosie was the beginning of March 2022, after about 7months of tracking ovulation. We bought 3kits and tried for a week straight. The first round was unsuccessful so at the beginning of April 2022 we tried again, this time getting 2kits and spacing the timing out. We consulted our fertility doctor, after Aprils failed attempt, and asked about how we were utilizing the kit and concerns we had since we didn’t have any success at that time. She believed that my eggs were maturing too fast and that was why we were unsuccessful. Especially since we were timing everything correctly and “overusing” the kits. She put me on a medication specifically used for people with PCOS trying to conceive and told us to try again. This time- take the medication and only use one kit and space out the timing.

My wife and I took a break in May and June to reconvene and give ourselves time to process and prepare ourselves in the chance that the medication and using Mosie might not work and we would need to do IUI next. July 2022 we tried again, this time taking the medication and listening to the doctors advice. We knew we would possibly have to try again, so when the round in July didn’t stick we weren’t upset trying one more time in August 2022. We were more relaxed going into July and August than we were in the beginning, and I think that really helped us.

I continued to test my ovulation and kept up with our routine and the day before I was supposed to start my period, I had the urge to take a pregnancy test. I didn’t have to wait more than a few seconds for the first test strip to light up with two very clear lines. In disbelief and knowing that my wife would want a more “solid” test, I grabbed the pregnancy tests we had stashed away and took one. Again- I only had to wait a few seconds for two very clear lines. I quickly ran downstairs without my wife knowing, grabbed a card I was saving for this occasion and ran back up to the bathroom to fill it out and stash the Pregnancy strip inside to give to her. I left the “legit” test upstairs to finish processing, ran back down and tried to record her without her being suspicious. I failed.. but, her reaction is one I’ll never forget. We finally did it! We finally had a positive test and a new wave of anxieties flooded in- will this stick, will we meet our baby in nine months?

Very early on I was having some pains and at 5weeks, I went to the hospital for an ultrasound and some testing to make sure I wasn’t having an ectopic pregnancy, the technician looked at my wife and I and said “I’m not supposed to tell you this, but there are two gestational sacs in there and I’ve never seen them this clear.” In true Rachel fashion, my wife’s reaction was “tell me you’re kidding”, but she wasn’t kidding, now here we are 33weeks with our Twins. One of each- the best of both! We will be welcoming them into this world in a few short weeks and we really wouldn’t be here without the help of Mosie. We are really lucky to be able to have a donor and use the at home kit and end up with two, especially knowing the trials and costs that it would have been if we wouldn’t have conceived this way.

We recommend Mosie to ALL of our friends who need help conceiving and really couldn’t thank you enough for making this possible for couples like us!
