Cancer and Loss couldn't stop this incredible Couple from a BFP

After 3 cycles with Mosie, I’m pregnant! But let me back up...

My wife Monica and I have been planning for our journey into parenthood since long before our wedding on September 1, 2019. I read everything I could get my hands on, including “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” (which was a game changer and should be required reading in high school!).

But thoughts of fertility treatments took a back seat to breast cancer treatments as Monica endured multiple surgeries, including a bilateral mastectomy, chemo in the weeks prior to our wedding and radiation in the weeks after.

The original plan in my head was to start trying to build our family right after our wedding, but Monica was so exhausted and still recovering from radiation burns, so she wanted to put things on hold which I of course understood. During what was supposed to be her recovery time, both her parents died unexpectedly taking an emotional toll in addition to the physical one, so we took more time off to heal.

Monica gave me reassurances that she was ready to start our family a few months later but as a same-sex couple, we had a few more hurdles to jump. Our preparation involved finding a lawyer to assist in drawing up a Known Sperm Donor Agreement and planning for Second Parent adoption even as a married couple.

Finding a sperm donor proved to be less of a struggle when two of our closest friends (a straight married couple) presented us with a tiny shirt that read “Raised by Strong Women” and said that they would be honored to give us this gift. Many tears were shed and hugs all around. (Remember hugs?) That was by far the greatest gift I’ve ever gotten, but I can’t wait until the day I can say that the greatest gift I’ve received is the precious baby girl in our arms, which will be any day now because I’m 38 weeks pregnant! They do say that the third time’s the charm!

Mosie made the process so easy and they were supportive throughout, which is particularly important to us as a same-sex couple. I highly recommend trying Mosie before going a more expensive route regardless of the reason that you’re checking them out. What do you have to lose?
