Trying to Conceive Over Age 40

  • 2 min read

The biggest challenge most women face over the age of 40 is egg quality and ovulation. Fertility doctors will typically run some blood tests and do a pelvic ultrasound - during the consultation - to assess your potential challenges trying to conceive. They will look at your Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) levels. Low AMH is generally a sign of low ovarian reserve.

While we know of so many women in their early 40's getting pregnant and having a healthy babies - we want to be honest - it's not the norm. Not saying it can't and won't happen for you - but you need to have as much information as you can about your particular situation, so you can temper your expectations or perhaps look into other routes to finding your little one if needed.

Mosie may be worth a try, but I wouldn’t want to have you lose any time trying with Mosie if egg quality is indeed a factor, as only IVF can help with that.

There are supplements and lifestyle changes you can make that may help improve egg quality. If you have not already, read the book "It Starts With The Egg". It has some great steps you can take to increase your chances. It takes about 3 months to see improvements in egg quality so you have a real chance to increase your odds before trying IVF.

We have had a few reported pregnancies from women at and over 40. But again, we highly recommend making sure you're armed with as much knowledge as possible before considering Mosie. We are wishing you the best on your journey and are here to help as best we can. If you have more questions feel free to email us at info@mosiebaby.com
